Surgical Hosiery & Supports

We can provide measure and fit surgical stockings, tights and supports.

Surgical stockings are also known as compression stockings and are used to help support the system of veins and also lymphatic systems in the leg. They are available in a wide variety of styles and sizes to meet the needs placed upon them.

Many people wear surgical stockings for different reasons such as:

  • Tired legs

  • Varicose veins

  • Prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

  • Lymphatic obstruction (lymphoedema).

The surgical stockings provide graduated compression throughout the leg, with maximum at the ankle and slowly reducing up the leg to the thigh. The stockings are divided into three classes, class one, class two and class three in order of increasing compression. Class three compression garments are normally only supplied by a hospital for post operative use after surgery and cannot usually be supplied by us.

Flight socks

In recent years following reporting in the media there has been an increased awareness of the risk of deep vein thrombosis associated with long haul flights. It is recommended that you should consider problems associated with DVT if your flight duration is longer than five hours.

By applying a gentle pressure at the ankle these socks help the blood flow in the legs by squeezing it back towards the heart. This reduces the likelihood of a blood clot forming in the lower leg after sitting for a long period of time.

WE stock the SCHOLL range of flight socks, with sizing similar to your shoe sizes.
